| JB Quarter Horse Stud is run by Jock and Brooke Hislop at Naracoorte, in South Australia’s renowned south east district. Our focus is to produce versatile “Ranch Style” quarter horses. By combining the balance and leg speed of quality running blood, with the athleticism and natural cow sense of cutting bred stock, we aim to provide customers with sound, reliable horses, that will excel in the show rings, rodeo and camp drafting arenas, and are equally at home working stock or weekend riding. |

| In 2008 we were fortunate to be able to purchase “Only Foolin’ Around” (the Colonel as he is affectionately known), an athletic 1990 son of imported parents “Cuttabars Colonel” and “Doc Fooler”. His Impressive Pedigree combines some of the breeds most influencial sires including Jewels Leo Bars over Rey Jay, Doc Bar over Poco Tivio twice and Gold Rush. |

| It came as no surprise to learn of Colonels’ successes over the years, including a Bronze Century at Halter and a performance register of merit. How ever it is his ability to sire champion horses, and the genuine affection held for these horses, that has made the deepest impression on us. Amongst his now many progeny are “Foolin on Deck” a winning barrel racer owned by champion cowgirl Jane O’Dell, “Only Kidding Sam” owned by South Australian camp drafting identity Bevan Roberts, a string of successful halter horses, and his mares are keenly sought by breeders for their sound conformation, kind temperament and consistency of type. Blessed with graceful movement, and a true gentleman, we could not have wished for a more complete horse to fill the role of founding sire. |

| In putting together a small mare band we have stayed true to our goal, by selecting mares that display the physical characteristics we’re looking for, a stout athletic body balanced by powerful hips, a pretty head, gentle disposition and of course a good turn of speed! Carrying the bloodlines of Big Red Chex, Ima Cool Skip, Morn Deck, Jet Straw, Ima Go Man, Jewels Leo Bars, Doc Bar, and Impressive, these mares are backed by solid pedigrees. |
